From the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple and sea oxen in Taichung to tea harvesting by hand, Sean explores Taiwan from a historical perspective. After delicious street food served by four generations of a local family, he explores the artistry of master wood carvers and mask-makers. Next is the Rainbow Village and a joint art project with 101-year-old Huang Yung-Fu. Lastly, Sean settles in at the National Taichung Theater to articulate the inspirations he discovered in Taiwan and begin to craft his painting “Peonies #1.”

Sean explores the streets of Dublin where he enjoys the contrast between Oscar Wilde and the rap poetry of a local street artist. The cliffs and docks of Howth welcome Sean to a place where the sea and the people are one. From the Armagh Rhymers to punk rock, Sean immerses himself in the Irish music scene and Belfast’s gritty nightlife. Finally, his visit to the sight where the Titanic was built proves to be a touching and memorable experience as he gathers stories from descendants of passengers who perished at sea and is the inspiration for his painting celebrating the perseverance and tenacity of the Irish people.

Sean then “ saddles up” for a cattle drive at the Princeville Ranch with sixth-generation rancher Karin Guest, where he ultimately finds the visual inspiration for his Kauai painting.

Founded in 1969 by a group of free-spirited hippies from Berkeley, this utopian enclave on Kauai promised peace and a life in harmony with nature. However, paradise soon revealed its challenges. Sean delves into Taylor Camp’s rich history with renowned photographer John Wehrheim, whose evocative images capture the essence of the community at its zenith. As he retraces the steps of those who once called Taylor Camp home, Sean seeks out the remaining members to piece together the story of this extraordinary experiment in communal living.
